So...Daniel and I pretty much do not photograph weddings anymore. For about 8 years that was our full time job. Our photography company was named VERGE, as in "on the verge of...". And for 8 years we were on the verge for sure! There were times that felt like we were at the top of our game and times we were tipping over the brink. Honestly? Being a wedding photographer was probably the best job I ever had. And the most stressful. And super fun. And crazy. And amazing. You get the idea.
Anyhoo... last weekend we acquiesced to photographing Jonathan & Ellie's wedding in Elkhart, KS and dusted off the old wedding photography skills. Still love catching little moments and big ones.
Congratulations to this beautiful couple! Cheers!
Ah, young love + summer light. It's a match made in heaven!
First of all these 2 were emanating love, happiness and joy so I feel like capturing great images of them is almost cheating. I didn't even have to work! So here a few of my favorites from the evening.
Congratulations you 2 lovely souls!!
There’s something magical about Colorado summer evenings — the warmth of the sun as it dips behind the mountains, the soft golden light filtering through the trees, and the sound of laughter echoing along the riverbanks. It’s the perfect time to step outside and capture what really matters: your family, just as they are.
No stiff posing. No forced smiles. Just real joy, genuine connection, and the kind of sibling silliness that makes a parent’s heart swell. That’s the kind of photography I love — relaxed, honest, and bathed in natural light.
My family sessions are laid-back and pressure-free. You don’t need to worry about perfect outfits or perfect behavior — I’m here to document your family as you are. We’ll laugh, explore, play, and I’ll guide you just enough so that you feel comfortable while still letting the natural moments unfold.
Whether we’re in the foothills like this, in a local open space, or running through a sun-soaked field, my goal is to capture your story in a way that feels real.
🌞 Golden Hour Glow: That dreamy light you see here? It only happens during those long, summer evenings.
💛 School’s Out: More flexibility in scheduling, no rush between school and dinner.
🌿 Colorado in Bloom: Lush greens, wildflowers, and that fresh, golden Colorado backdrop.
If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos — or if this is your first time — now’s the time to get on the calendar. I only take a limited number of sessions each month to ensure each family gets the attention they deserve.
Let’s make this the summer you’ll always remember.

Let’s create something beautiful — together.
I have to throw a little shout out to my friend Wendee. This woman has grit and grace in spades! We had a little chat a few months ago about possibly creating a few fresh branding images for her company Cornerstone Botanicals. We talked about it on a Tuesday afternoon and by Thursday evening we made it happen! It was just that easy!
Wendee is in the process of training for an ironman and I really wanted to capture her in motion, in the foothills with some beautiful light. Thankfully we got a gorgeous evening and perfect weather! Here's a few captures from the session.
Good Grief! I think it's really the end of February! I never understand how winter in Colorado is both fast and slow. In terms of photography winter is definitely a quiet season for me. This is not a bad thing. I tend to put down the camera in favor of picking up the paintbrush in the winter months. Trading one tool of expression for another...I think this is good. I love both.
Of course we are by no means through winter yet. The deepest snows are most likely still to come, but I am starting to think spring and photo sessions and am looking forward to seeing some of your lovely faces! So this post is just to say, "Hello almost Spring! I'm still waiting for you!"
Until then, I can't miss my chance to post a few images from this session!
