Every now and again someone will come to me with a specific vision for a photo session. Which, honestly, I love! I love the challenge of trying to capture a vision... an inspiration board. I may not achieve it 100%, but I'll definitely give it my best go!
I would have to say that working with evening or morning light is what I know the best. Having photographed over 250 weddings gave me a versatility with using any and all light that serves me still today, but my preference is the golden light us photographers are so gushy about. So this session stretched me to reach for that low light vibe. I did squeeze in some golden light too tho... cause, I mean it's still the king of light ;)

Just in case you weren't made aware, this is it. The days of autumnal light now wane. I hope you're out there tromping through every moment of it. I hope you're throwing leaves and soaking up all the colorful glory of these days.

Why go to all the effort?
Big extended family photo sessions, are a lot of work to organize and plan. Why go to all the effort? Well, because you never get this time back. The little ones are changing every year so much. Right now, today you can get a frozen moment in time where all of you are in one space, breathing the same air, strolling through beautiful spaces and chatting, catching up, making a memory. That alone is priceless, the photo that captures it is just the cherry on top.
Can we talk about light?
Light. Have I gone on a rant about this here recently? I don't think so. I'm overdue, so here it is!
Photo, derived from the Greek word for light and Graphy, derived from the Greek work for drawing combines to make Photography literally mean drawing with light. How cool is that?
When I first picked up a camera I was intensely frustrated with trying to control the light, meaning I sucked at photography! I pretty much wrote the whole artform off. I'll stick to paint, thanks very much. But then I went to school for photography and lo and behold, kinda caught the drawing with light bug!!
So, here's to light! My very favorite paintbrush.
Summer sessions are coming on line!!
Do you feel like summer is a wild colt just bolting through a field of wildflowers at breakneck speeds? Yeah, me too. I am honestly in a small state of shock that it's the end of June. What?? I could happily shoot every single golden hour in summer. And if I'm being honest, that's not a big number. Summer is fleeting and her golden hours are limited. So if you're on the fence about booking a portrait session, get off that fence friend! Bolt for golden light and freeze framing moments forever!!
