Can we talk about light?
Light. Have I gone on a rant about this here recently? I don't think so. I'm overdue, so here it is!
Photo, derived from the Greek word for light and Graphy, derived from the Greek work for drawing combines to make Photography literally mean drawing with light. How cool is that?
When I first picked up a camera I was intensely frustrated with trying to control the light, meaning I sucked at photography! I pretty much wrote the whole artform off. I'll stick to paint, thanks very much. But then I went to school for photography and lo and behold, kinda caught the drawing with light bug!!
So, here's to light! My very favorite paintbrush.
Summer sessions are coming on line!!
Do you feel like summer is a wild colt just bolting through a field of wildflowers at breakneck speeds? Yeah, me too. I am honestly in a small state of shock that it's the end of June. What?? I could happily shoot every single golden hour in summer. And if I'm being honest, that's not a big number. Summer is fleeting and her golden hours are limited. So if you're on the fence about booking a portrait session, get off that fence friend! Bolt for golden light and freeze framing moments forever!!
It's graduation weekend at CSU!!
There is a lot of energy in the air around CSU this weekend as students are wrapping everything up. Some are finishing finals, packing up dorm rooms and saying goodbye to friends for the summer. Some are celebrating 4 hard years of studies, finals and late night cramming!
I had the joy of capturing this epic accomplishment for one lovely soul a few weeks ago and we had so much fun!! Congratulations Alexa! So happy for you!! You're amazing!!
Yay for Engagement sessions!
Am I allowed to say that I find engagement sessions to be so much fun? I get to spend a little time with new love and it's lovely. Especially when the location is perfect, which I must say Lily Lake is. It's one of the those spots that's pretty much got it all.

Winter tends to be a quieter portrait season...
Hello friends! It's been a minute since I posted anything here, so I thought I'd re-engage. Winter in Colorado tends to be a quieter portrait season for me. (Although if you're local you'll know we haven't technically had a winter this year). I do actually really like the monochromatic feeling of winter sessions, and shooting in an urban setting like this one make the season kinda irrelevant. Still, while I don't mind the slower pace, right about now I start to get an itchy trigger finger. Let's go Spring!!
